The duties of an actuarial assistant will depend on where he or she is working. The person may either work with a health insurance or an general insurance companies. However, the main duties the actuarial assistant will have to execute are finding and eliminating risks in business. For example, if he is with an insurance company, he will calculate premiums on policies, collect and study statistical data, determine average death rate for certain age group of people, and how fair is the policy offered to customers. With the health insurance company, the jobholder identify the possibilities of a person catching up a certain type of disease. To do these jobs, person will have to perform lots of mathematical and statistical work.
